Artist Interview: Savage Tosh — “Ride With Me”

Hailing from Singapore, Savage Tosh blends raw rock energy with the sleek emotion of electronic soundscapes. Drawing inspiration from artists like Avenged Sevenfold and Daft Punk, he crafts music that bridges intensity and introspection — powerful guitars meeting polished production. In this interview, Savage Tosh opens up about his creative process, late-night songwriting sessions, and the drive that fuels his art. His latest track, “Ride With Me,” captures that spirit — a song born from both instinct and emotion, inviting listeners to join him on a journey through sound and feeling.

Where are you from?
I’m from Singapore.

Who are your biggest artistic influences?
My biggest influences are Avenged Sevenfold and Daft Punk. I love Avenged Sevenfold for their energy and songwriting, and Daft Punk for their production, textures and engineering of emotion through electronic sounds.

Tell me about how your creation part begins, and how is your workflow.
I usually start with the music first. A lot of the time I’ll be noodling on guitar until a tune or a riff clicks — that initial feel dictates the direction. I record the guitar parts and build the arrangement from there, layering instruments slowly and letting the track evolve. Lyrics can come at different stages: sometimes they appear after the music is mostly done, other times they’re written concurrently. For example, with the song “Ride With Me” I developed the music and lyrics at the same time, which helped both elements feed off each other.

Where do you find inspiration?
Inspiration comes from everywhere — people, places, sounds, conversations, memories. There’s no single source; whatever resonates emotionally becomes raw material for a song. I try to stay open and curious so ideas can come from the most unexpected moments.

When is your favorite time of day to create your music?
Close to midnight. When the house is quiet and my family and kids are asleep I’m able to focus and tap into the mood I want. There’s a clarity and a calm at that hour that really helps me get into the zone.

Describe how art is essential to society nowadays.
Art is essential because it helps us make sense of the world and of ourselves. It challenges perspectives, comforts people, connects communities and sparks conversations. Whether it’s a song, a painting or design in everyday objects, art shapes culture, humanizes technology and gives voice to experiences that might otherwise go unheard. In an age of constant information, art is what turns data into feeling and meaning.

What motivates you to create?
I’m driven by the flow of finishing a track — the moment when elements come together and a song has its own life. That feeling of satisfaction and the ability to express something true motivates me to keep creating. Also, knowing that a song might move someone, change their mood or be part of their life keeps me coming back to the studio.

How do you define success as a music artist?
Success to me is being able to move a listener — to evoke feeling, to inspire or give someone a spark in their day. If my music resonates deeply with even a single person, that’s success. If it reaches many and makes a real impact on people’s lives, that’s the dream.

Does art help you in other areas of your life?
Absolutely. Music affects my mood, shapes how I work through problems and connects me to people. It brings balance — creatively recharging me so I can be a better father, husband and professional in my day job. The discipline of making art also teaches patience, focus and empathy.

How do you develop your art skills?
By trying everything and staying curious. I experiment with different genres, instruments and production techniques. I listen widely, learn from other artists, and keep practicing — recording demos, testing arrangements and learning from each project. Life itself is my classroom; experiences feed my craftsmanship.

What is your next move?
My next move is to record all my demos properly and bring them to life. I’ve got a backlog of demos — probably enough material for two albums — and I’m finally ready to work on them professionally and move them from ideas into finished releases.

Where will we see you in 5 years?
I hope to be performing on larger stages and gaining wider recognition, but realistically I’m balancing family and work. I’m a father, a husband and I work full time, so music is my passion and dream pursued alongside life’s responsibilities. In five years I see myself continuing to release music, playing bigger shows when possible, and doing this consistently while still being present for my family.

As Savage Tosh continues to shape his sound and bring his demos to life, there’s much more on the horizon. Follow his journey, stay tuned for upcoming releases, and let his music ride with you wherever life takes you.
